Both Stewartry Care and Friends of Stewartry Care were proud to be part of a community effort which raised money for a defibrillator for the Wellness Centre in Dalbeattie. Donations came from across the town and the defibrillator is now in place.

We are absolutely delighted to confirm that we received two grade 6’s and a grade 5 at our June inspection from the Care Inspectorate. These grades are the same as last year and we are really pleased to have maintained a wonderfully high standard. We must say a big thank you to each and every one of you for your role in helping us maintain these grades.

Open Day

What an absolutely amazing open day we had here on Thursday 14th July! So much fun and laughter and the sun was very much on our side – some of us even got sunburnt! Daffy Dill was first class, our face painter Amy did a wonderful job and lots of prizes were won on our tombola, bingo and kids games. We also managed to raise a massive £321.65 for MS!!! We would like to say thank you to each and every one of our office staff and carers who helped on the day, baked goodies and donated prizes and also to our service users who did likewise. And finally a big thank you to all of you from the public who turned up, joined in the fun and helped us raise such a fantastic sum of money. It took a lot of planning but we are already talking about next year!

We had our annual inspection week commencing 24th June and we are delighted with how it went. We are still awaiting the official results but everything seemed very positive. Watch this space for the full results!

Wiltshire Farm Foods

Our Wiltshire Farm Foods Demonstration on Thursday 9th June was a big success. We had service users, carers and members of the public in attendance and we were able to taste a variety of main meals and puddings. All the meals on offer were very tasty—clean plates all round! There are some brochures available here in the office if you are interested in picking up a copy – please feel free to pop in.

Wiltshire Food Demonstration

We have arranged for Wiltshire Farm Foods to give us a food demonstration on Thursday 9th June at 11am in Dalbeattie Town Hall (Chambers).  This is open to all our carers, service users and anyone who would like to learn more about what their service offers or have any questions answered.  There will also be the opportunity to taste several meals and sweets.  If you would like to attend please let me know so I can pass on rough numbers.  It would be lovely to see you there!

New Premises

Over the weekend of 21st and 22nd May Stewartry Care moved premises from Castle Douglas to Dalbeattie.  We were in need of more space so have moved to modern, purpose built offices.  You are more than welcome to come and visit us.

DGBusiness Awards

We are delighted to announce that Stewartry Care were shortlisted in the DGBusiness Awards 2016. We made it to the final three in the “Outstanding Social Enterprise” category. We attended the awards ceremony at the Easterbrook Hall on Friday 29th April which was a wonderful evening. We were delighted to have made the shortlist and want to say a big well done and thank you to each and every one of you for your contribution to the company.

Foot Care Service

We have in recent months set up a foot care service which has really taken off with clinics and home visits rolled out across the region.  This service provides basic foot care including toenail cutting and filing of nails.  A session at one of our clinics costs £10 with a home visit priced at £18.  Clinics take place in Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Dalbeattie and Dumfries.  This service is not just available to people who currently receive a service from Stewartry Care but also to individuals who have no social work input at all.  We would like to say a big well done to all those who have helped get this service up and running.  If you would like to book an appointment or for more information regarding this service then please contact Kelly at the office and information can be sent to your home –
